ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Police say a driver was apparently impaired when he struck and killed a pedestrian in St. Paul and left the scene.

Officers responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian in the Midway area shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday. Officers found a man with seriously injuries. Paramedics were called, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

After reviewing surveillance video in the area, officers put out a description of the suspect vehicle and an officer spotted the driver about 15 minutes later.



The 46-year-old man appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, was arrested and booked into the Ramsey County jail on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide, the St. Paul Pioneer Pres s reported.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
