CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago-based organization is seeking nominations for awards honoring people and programs in the state that show a commitment to historic preservation.
Landmarks Illinois, a nonprofit group, is taking applications through June 15 for its annual awards program. There are nine awards, including those for for advocacy and leadership, which will be given at a celebration event planned for October.
Nominations can be made online. Winners will also get $1,000 a piece. The projects must be located in Illinois and completed within the last five years.
Previous winners include the Ford House in Aurora, a 1950 Bruce Goff-designed home which the owner has restored and maintained, and a historic building in Carterville, which has been transformed into a bakery.
