MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Young hunters accompanied by adults will be trying to bag a turkey this weekend.

The annual youth turkey hunting season is on Saturday and Sunday across Vermont.

The hunters aged 15 and younger must have a hunting license and a turkey hunting license and be accompanied by an unarmed adult who has a Vermont hunting license and is over age 18.



The hunters are allowed to take one bearded turkey and must have the proper free tag.

Shooting hours are between an hour before sunrise and 5 p.m.

The regular spring turkey hunting season opens on May 1 and runs through May 31. It runs from a half hour before sunrise to 12 p.m. each day. Hunters are allowed to take two bearded turkeys during the spring season.
