President Trump is right to soon reopen our country in three phases. He is right to move gradually in some sectors but also to move quickly in others to save critical parts of the country. It is wrong for doctors, when in doubt, to put “COVID-19” as decedents’ cause of death in order to try to increase the “score.” We have data to show that early assumptions about this virus were way overblown, with deaths due to it being far fewer than the World Health Organization and many experts predicted.

Drs. David Katz and John Ionannidis have said on TV that for some patients who cannot get elective or necessary surgery, the health fallout from COVID-19 may be disastrous. Yet, there are far more deaths from heart disease, cancer and other diseases than there are from COVID-19. A virus for which death rates are very low should not be given priority, and patients who should not go to the hospital when infected with it, but should instead call first.

The president rightly seeks a balanced approach to the pandemic and must now rapidly save the economy and our country.
