YANKEETOWN, Fla. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard rescued three boaters from a swamped airboat on a river in Florida on Monday night.
A crew from Coast Guard Station in Yankeetown received a 911 call from the men, who said they could not keep water out of the boat. They only had two life jackets, the agency said in a news release sent Tuesday morning.
A crew recovered the men from the Withlacoochee River and took them to a boat ramp where paramedics evaluated them.
The boat will need to be recovered from the water, officials said.
“The Coast Guard encourages all boaters to have enough life jackets and check all safety gear before leaving,” said Lt. Karinne Merical.
