PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) - A pedestrian has been struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 95 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island State Police say.

The male pedestrian was struck on the northbound side of the highway at about noon on Sunday.

No additional information about the victim was released pending notification of family.



Troopers responded to the area of Exit 27 in response to reports of a male walking in the northbound travel lanes, police said. Troopers were assisted by members of the Pawtucket police and fire Departments and preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was struck by oncoming traffic. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
