GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - The first meatpacking plant employee in Greeley, Colorado, to die of complications due to the coronavirus has been buried.

Saul Sanchez, 78, died on April 7 and was buried on Wednesday, The Greeley Tribune reported. He’d worked at the JBS plant for more than 30 years.

Sanchez was born in Rio Grande Zacatecas, Mexico. He and his wife, Carolina, have six children and 13 grandchildren.

The plant has been closed until April 24 while its owner, JBS USA, works with state and federal officials to test its 5,000 workers for the virus and to sanitize the plant.

Dozens of plant workers have already tested positive for the virus.

JBS USA is a subsidiary of Brazil-based JBS S.A., one of the world’s largest meat processors, and holds a majority interest in Pilgrim’s Pride, the United States’ second largest poultry company. It processes beef at the Greeley plant.
