OPINION:
I am worried. There are three threats to my country: The coronovirus, economic disaster and the little-realized threat to our governmental system. The first threat is being addressed as best as possible. The second threat, mentioned by President Trump, is the immense danger to our economy should the first threat not be defeated quickly. The third threat could be the most damaging.
We are witnessing a breakdown in credibility and balance by those who persist with their ’hate Trump’ posture. In the mainstream media we see a constant barrage of misquotes, Trump’s words being taken out of context, the highlighting of trouble spots and the ignoring of progress. Some individuals refuse to distinguish between fact and fiction. Examples include accepting and disseminating the false narrative that Mr. Trump called the virus a hoax, that he said the pandemic would end by Easter, that he recommended people go to drug stores for the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquinine, and more.
The third danger combines the hatred of individuals with hostile congressional Democrats intent on continuing their anti-Trump actions. Having failed in their Russia-collusion and impeachment attempts, these Democrats are now threatening to investigate Mr. Trump, claiming he was late in taking action against the coronavirus. They were the ones who delayed the president’s stimulus package because it didn’t include enough of their unrelated, ridiculous socialist agenda.
Can these attacks on our leadership be interpreted by our adversaries, China, Russia and Iran, as an opportunity to attack America? Let’s hope not.
