TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A man is dead after the car he was driving crashed through a guardrail and plunged down a cliff along the Catalina Highway in Tucson, authorities said Monday.
Pima County Sheriff’s officials said impairment is believed to be a factor in Saturday night’s incident that’s still being investigated.
Authorities said 22-year-old Raymond Zamora was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering critical injuries.
Sheriff’s officials said the car Zamora was driving was found several hundred yards down the canyon.
Due to dangerous terrain and poor weather conditions, it took rescue teams several hours to reach the vehicle.
