BAKERSFIELD, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a man is charged with attempted murder in a head-on car crash with a family member.
Police say 53-year-old Jeffrey Cota, of Bakersfield, is accused of intentionally crashing into an oncoming vehicle on Sunday afternoon on Route 36, “utilizing his motor vehicle as a deadly weapon.” The other vehicle was driven by a family member who was taken to the hospital.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or have any information about it to contact the St. Albans barracks.
Cota was being held at the Northwest Correctional Center in St. Albans for lack of $100,000 bail. It was not immediately known if he is being represented by an attorney.
