PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (AP) — Police say several schools have been locked down in Presque Isle, Maine, while a suspect is being sought following a shooting.

WAGM-TV reports that a shooting victim was being treated at a hospital Monday. The person’s condition wasn’t immediately known.

Police say Northern Maine Community College, Skyway Middle School and other businesses were placed on lockdown and residents were told to stay indoors.

Tom Powers, executive director of the Presque Isle Industrial Council, which oversees Skyway Industrial Park, said businesses were secured and police were present.

The incident comes less than a month after an unsolved double-killing in Castle Hill, about 10 miles northwest of Presque Isle. State police say two people were shot to death on Aug. 13 in a pickup truck, and residents were encouraged to be vigilant.
