LAYTON, Utah (AP) - More than 100 homes have been evacuated as a Utah wildfire that sparked late Monday night continues to burn.
KSL-TV reports the Layton wildfire has burned about 120 acres (48 hectares) and is 0% contained as of Tuesday morning. No structures have been damaged.
It is burning in the hills near Layton, about 25 miles north of Salt Lake City.
Officials have not determined the cause of the fire but said it was not caused by lightning.
Evacuated residents were sent to two different sites at local churches.
Layton Fire Battalion Chief Jason Cook says flames came within 100-200 yards of the yards of several homes Monday night. But, he says the blaze had died down slightly Tuesday morning.
