NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut judge has ruled that the case of a man charged with killing a couple and their adult son can go to trial.
A judge ruled at a probable cause hearing Wednesday that prosecutors showed through witness testimony and evidence that 27-year-old Sergio Correa likely committed murder and other crimes in December 2017.
Prosecutors argued Sergio Correa and his 25-year-old adopted sister, Ruth Correa, stabbed 21-year-old Matthew Lindquist and that Sergio Correa fatally beat Matthew’s parents, Kenneth and Janet Lindquist, of Griswold.
Prosecutors say Ruth Correa was present and participated in the killings. She will be sentenced to 40 years in exchange for her cooperation.
Sergio Correa’s attorney contested holding her client accountable for the murder charges related to Matthew Lindquist’s death.
Sergio Correa pleaded not guilty to 13 charges.
