TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A former employee for a Tucson cancer center is accused of stealing opioids and other painkillers from patients at their homes.

The state Attorney General’s Office announced Thursday that a Sept. 17 indictment charges 31-year-old Juan Carlos Hernandez with one count of fraud and four counts of computer tampering.

The indictment alleges Hernandez while working at a Banner Health facility illegally accessed patient information to obtain prescription histories and addresses and then went to patients’ homes to collect medications that he told patients were expired or being recalled.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Hernandez who could comment on the allegations.
