WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) - A 16-year-old Massachusetts boy is facing attempted murder charges for what police allege was a random attack on two female graduate students.
Waltham police announced Tuesday that the teen faces two counts each of assault with intent to murder among other charges. His name has not been made public because of his age.
Authorities say he repeatedly stabbed the two Brandeis University graduate students at about 1:30 a.m. Monday. They are expected to survive.
Police say he also tried to steal a car before he was captured at about 5 a.m.
The attack occurred at the victims’ home near the Brandeis campus and across the street from an elementary school.
Police say the motive remains under investigation.
