BARRE, Vt. (AP) - Prosecutors have dismissed a stalking charge against a Vermont state police sergeant who had been charged with harassing his estranged wife.
The Times Argus reports the state dismissed the misdemeanor stalking charge against 49-year-old Sgt. Raymond LeBlanc after the alleged victim refused to provide a sworn statement or testify at a trial.
LeBlanc, who is currently on voluntary unpaid leave, pleaded not guilty in January in court in Barre.
Court documents say LeBlanc’s estranged wife accused of him of tracking her and showing up and places she had been and he had accessed a social media profile.
LeBlanc’s attorney, Oreste Valsangiacomo, had sought to depose the woman. He said the woman had filed multiple false reports against LeBlanc and has “tried to destroy him.”
