GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina sheriff’s office is investigating a deadly home invasion.
The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to a home in Greenville around 4:30 a.m. Thursday in reference to a gunshot victim. Deputies said they found a man who lived there dead, and the alleged shooter was taken into custody a short distance away.
Investigators say the shooting occurred as a result of an ongoing dispute between the victim and the suspect, 47-year-old Leon Eric Brown, who’s accused of entering the home and ultimately shooting the victim to death.
Brown faces charges of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, kidnapping and first-degree burglary. It was unknown if he’s represented by an attorney.
News outlets report the coroner’s office has not released the victim’s name.
