LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say a burned body has been found at a homeless encampment in the San Fernando Valley.

The body was discovered Tuesday, stuffed in a shopping cart near a park in Van Nuys.

The county coroner’s office tells the Los Angeles Times the body was too badly burned to immediately determine its gender or how the person died.

The discovery follows several recent fire attacks on homeless people around Los Angeles.

Two men were arrested last month on suspicion of setting fire to an encampment in Eagle Rock, sparking a brushfire that forced evacuations from Glendale homes.

A 62-year-old man was killed last month after his tent was set on fire outside a homeless shelter on skid row. Another homeless man has been charged with his death.
