OPINION:
Last week, The Times reported that Gail Gordon Donegan, who was appointed by Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam to the Virginia Council on Women, “has a record of ridiculing Catholic beliefs and practices” (“Church groups hit Northam appointee Gail Gordon Donegan for anti-Catholic tweets,” Web).
Ms. Donegan rationalized her anti-Catholicism based on the claim her father was beaten in foster homes and her husband, who is an ex-Catholic, was not offended by her tweets. Obviously Mr. Northam, who has a history of racism and the promotion of infanticide and inially defened Ms. Donegan, has a great knack for making very bad appointments.
Thankfully, pressured by the Catholic League and the Catholic dioceses of Arlington and Richmond, as well as mass protest by Catholics, Ms. Donegan has resigned.
African-Americans, babies, Catholics — who is next, Gov. Northam? Jews?
