LAS VEGAS (AP) - The time to drive down a scenic road at Red Rock Canyon is shifting as the sun sets earlier.

The 13-mile scenic drive at the national conservation area west of the Las Vegas Strip will close at 5 p.m. starting Friday. Until then, it’s open until 7 p.m.

The area has miles of hiking trails, picnic areas and other spots for rock climbing, mountain biking and horseback riding.

Visitors can start driving the scenic roadway at 6 a.m.

Visitation is heavy in the fall, especially on weekends and holidays, because of milder weather.
