LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Authorities have identified a driver who died after his vehicle rammed into a roadside pole in south Lincoln.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports that 70-year-old Douglas Meyers was the only person in the car at the time of the crash.

Police say Meyers’ vehicle was headed north when it crossed a median and struck the pole just before 10 p.m. Thursday.

Meyers was later pronounced dead at a Lincoln hospital.

Officer Angela Sands, a Lincoln police spokeswoman, says it doesn’t appear that the crash caused Meyers’ death. An autopsy is pending.
