WINGINA, Va. (AP) - Police in Virginia are investigating a fatal fire that claimed two lives.

Virginia State police said in a statement that the Wednesday morning fire occurred in Wingina, which is about 90 miles (145 kilometers) west of Richmond.

Nelson County Fire and Rescue and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office responded and found two people dead inside the residence. Their remains were taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Richmond.



Police said the fire does not appear to be suspicious. But the cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
