LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A 21-year-old driver has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal Lincoln accident involving a pedestrian.
Lancaster County Court records say Casey Maxfield is charged with two felonies: failure to stop and render aid and with evidence tampering. The records don’t list the name of an attorney who could comment for her.
Lincoln police say 41-year-old Tina Mortensen was crossing a street Friday night when she was hit by a car . Mortensen died at the scene.
An affidavit for Maxfield’s arrest says that just before 3 a.m. Saturday, Maxfield and her father went to a police substation and reported that she’d been involved in an accident.
The affidavit says that after Maxfield heard the woman she had hit died, she maneuvered her car into Salt Creek.
