OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Two people are accused of setting a fire on Christmas Day 2017 in the basement of an Omaha home as part of an insurance scam.

Douglas County Court records say 39-year-old Lindsay Anderson and 39-year-old Joseph Caillier are charged with arson, burglary and burning to defraud an insurer. The court records don’t list the names of attorneys who could comment for them.

The records say the fire was started in the basement of Anderson’s mother’s home, where Anderson and Caillier lived and that was covered by a renter’s insurance policy. The records say they claimed a property loss of more than $16,000.

A witness reported to police seeing Caillier ransack the house to fake a burglary.
