Results of Kentucky’s new five-star accountability system for public schools were released Tuesday, with 1,272 schools ranked. For the 2018-2019 school year, 89 schools received one star, 251 two stars, 643 three stars, 233 four stars and 56 five stars, the highest performing.

The Kentucky Department of Education said indicators included in the ratings include reading and mathematics proficiency; proficiency in social studies, science and writing; students’ academic growth/progress over one academic year; transition readiness (historically known as college and career readiness); and graduation rate.
