BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (AP) _ Brookdale Senior Living Inc. (BKD) on Monday reported a loss of $78.5 million in its third quarter.
The Brentwood, Tennessee-based company said it had a loss of 42 cents per share.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 29 cents per share.
The senior housing company posted revenue of $1.01 billion in the period.
Brookdale shares have climbed 14% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $7.65, a fall of 14% in the last 12 months.
