LEWES, Del. (AP) - Police in Delaware say they are investigating a shooting involving a state trooper that left a man dead.
Delaware State Police said a 46-year-old man was shot by a trooper Friday night in Lewes. Police said Saturday that the man, who was not identified, was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.
Police said troopers responded to a call about an armed man threatening suicide. Police said the man placed the handgun on the ground but then picked it up and was pointing it at law enforcement officials when he was shot.
Police did not identify the trooper who shot the man, but said he is a five-year veteran of the department.
