PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (AP) - A police officer working in a school zone in front of a South Florida high school has been taken to the hospital after getting hit by a car.

Pembroke Pines police say the officer was in uniform and wearing a bright yellow traffic vest Monday morning outside Charles W. Flanagan High School when the woman’s car hit him. His patrol car with lights activated was nearby.

Police spokeswoman Amanda Conwell says the woman stayed at the scene. She was not hurt.



Conwell says the officer was taken to a hospital. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The officer’s name hasn’t been released.

No additional details were available.
