DEER ISLE, Maine (AP) - An arts school in Maine has received a $4 million grant, its largest donation to date.

The Bangor Daily News reports the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle received its largest gift from the Windgate Foundation on Thursday.

The endowment will be used to fund the ongoing effort to preserve and maintain the school’s 14-acres campus.

The nationally renowned art school is located on a cliff overlooking the Jericho Bay in the village of Sunshine in Deer Isle.

The school was awarded the 25-Year Award from the American Association of Architects along with the Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Gateway Arch in St. Louis.

This is the foundation’s second grant to the school after they awarded $2 million in 2014 to endow a residency program.
