BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - A historic Baptist church in Brattleboro, Vermont, is soon to close after nearly 150 years.

The Brattleboro Reform reports the First Baptist Church, opened in 1870, will close on Nov. 26. The paper reports the congregation has fallen in size, and that has left members scrambling to find funds to maintain the old building.

Previous efforts to raise money included selling a stained-glass window that was installed in the church in 1896. The $85,000 sale helped pay for roof repairs.

The congregation itself was founded in 1840. It’s a High Victorian Gothic style church. The final Sunday service is at 10 a.m.
