THOMASVILLE, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina transportation contractors plan to close an Interstate 85 ramp for two overnight periods this week.

The N.C. Department of Transportation says in a news release that the ramp from N.C. 109/Randolph Street onto southbound I-85 is set to close from 8 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday and again during the same hours from Friday evening to Saturday morning. The closure allows crews to perform preservation work on the bridge over the CSX railroad tracks.

The news release says that while the ramp is closed, traffic will be detoured to follow I-85 North to Finch Farm Road to access I-85 South.
