TIPLERSVILLE, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi school district has a new leader at its helm.

The North Tippah School Board voted Thursday to name Scott Smith the new superintendent of education beginning in January.

The vote took place during the school board’s regular monthly meeting.



Smith, a Walnut native, is currently serving as assistant superintendent of North Tippah Schools. He takes the place of Bill Brand, who will assume the Alcorn County Schools superintendent post on Jan. 1.
