MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) - A 104-year-old Connecticut elementary school is opening its doors to the public for one of the last times before it closes for good.
Manchester officials will host a walking tour of Washington Elementary School on Saturday from noon to 2:30 p.m.
School district spokesman Jim Farrell says town historian Susan Barlow will give a history lesson about the school during the tour.
The school opened in 1915 at a cost of just over $62,000. City officials have not decided what to do with the building once it closes in June as part of a school district renovation and consolidation plan.
A second community open house at the school is set for May 16.
