GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina motorist is recovering after being shot by police while drive away from officers and injuring one of them.
Greensboro police said Saturday that 18-year-old Isaiah Shields of Greensboro is recovering and facing charges. Police say one officer suffered minor injuries.
Police say they responded to a domestic dispute call late Friday and found a man at the scene inside a vehicle. Officers sought to identify him, but the man tried to drive away. He hit another vehicle in the parking lot, then changed direction and drove at police officers.
A white police officer fired and hit Shields, who is black.
The police department is investigating the use of force to determine whether the shooting was lawful.
