PICKENS, S.C. (AP) - More than two dozen firefighters are working to put out a fire that’s been burning at the Pickens County Landfill in South Carolina.

WYFF-TV reports the fire’s been burning since 4 a.m. Saturday in a debris pile at the back side of the landfill.

Visible smoke can be seen in the area of Old Liberty and Breazeale Roads. Officials say the smoke does not pose a health hazard at this time.

Drivers in the area are urged to use caution because visibility is impeded by fire equipment and smoke.

Officials say fire crews will be on scene for several hours, continuing to extinguish the fire.
