CROWLEY, La. (AP) - Louisiana State Police say a 40-year-old man has died nearly two weeks after he failed to yield and his compact pickup truck collided with a compact car.

A news release says Shawn Abshire of Crowley died Thursday in the hospital where he was taken after the wreck near Crowley the evening of May 19.

It says Abshire was not using the seat belt in his 2002 Chevrolet S-10. Police say the 18-year-old driving the 2005 Nissan Sentra was buckled up and suffered moderate injuries.

Police say the car was heading south on Louisiana Highway 13 and had the right of way over Abshire, who was heading east on Louisiana 92.

The crash remains under investigation.
