ABBEVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Clean up has started after a train derailment in South Carolina.
WSPA-TV reports 14 cars loaded with coal overturned in Abbeville County Thursday evening. Officials say the train had three locomotives and 110 loaded cars.
CSX says the derailment happened just after 4 p.m. No one was hurt.
CSX officials said in a statement that a small amount of coal spilled from five of the cars but no waterways were impacted. The company says crews have made significant progress in removing railcars from the area, re-railing non-damaged railcars and began track repairs.
There is no timeline on when the clean-up will be completed.
The cause of the train’s derailment is under investigation.
