STAGECOACH, Nev. (AP) - Authorities say a wildfire that broke out in northern Nevada over the weekend was caused by target shooting.
The U.S. Bureau of Land Management says Sunday’s fire burned about 50 acres (20 hectares) in Lyon County east of Dayton near Stagecoach before crews snuffed it out.
No buildings were damaged or injuries reported.
BLM spokeswoman Lisa Ross says the incident remains under investigation. She told the Reno Gazette Journal they’re trying to determine if the fire was reported by the target shooters themselves or somebody else.
