CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A judge has sentenced a Wyoming man to a long prison term for child abuse.

Twenty-eight-year-old James Sanders pleaded guilty Tuesday to three counts of child abuse. A judge earlier sentenced Sanders to 10 to 20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to child sex abuse.

Prosecutors also accuse the Casper man of physically abusing three other children left in his care by their mothers.

After Sanders pleaded guilty to those charges, Natrona County District Judge Kerri Johnson sentenced him to another 18 to 28 years in prison.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports that Sanders now faces up to 48 years in prison.

Sanders’ attorney, Dylan Rosalez, says Sanders was abused as a child and takes responsibility for his crimes.
