OPINION:
In a single issue of The Washington Times, a book review chastises media biases for “’a self-perpetuating and reinforcing mindset’” (“How to deal with the media and its biases,” Web, May 26) and an article, “2020 Democrats court LGBTQ activists for an edge in crowded primary race” (Web, May 26), tells readers that the “Trump administration moved to roll back protections for transgender people against discrimination in receiving medical care … “
No one is denying anyone treatment for heart attacks, broken legs or other regular treatment to heal bodily ills. This policy simply reinforces the Hippocratic Oath, which holds that doctors “will follow that system of regimen which, according to my ability and judgement, I consider for the benefit of my patients, and abstain from whatever is deleterious … .” Medical professionals are not slaves of the government or the passions of the moment. In contrast, they are obligated to use their best judgment to heal and not maim their patients.
I am grateful to The Washington Times for its usual independent analyses. This parroting of mainstream-media inaccuracies, such as “discrimination in receiving medical care,” are thankfully very infrequent.
