OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Traffic has returned to an Omaha-area highway that was closed for more than two months because of flood damage.
The Omaha World-Herald reports drivers honked their approval Monday afternoon as West Dodge Road was opened three weeks ahead of schedule. The emergency repairs to the highway just west of Elkhorn cost $2.2 million.
That section of the highway closed March 15 at a time when flooding was devastating parts of eastern Nebraska.
Officials had hoped to open the road by June so were pleased Memorial Day travelers and commuters between Omaha and Fremont and points to the west will have access to the highway.
