SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A Gold Rush era cemetery in California’s capital has been hit by vandalism.

The damage to several headstones at the Sacramento Historic City Cemetery occurred Thursday.

City spokeswoman Marycon Young tells the Sacramento Bee the cost of the damage has been estimated at $6,000 to $8,000.



The cemetery was established in 1849.
