LINCOLN, R.I. (AP) - Police in Rhode Island say several people have been injured in car crashes in Lincoln and Coventry.
Lincoln police say a three-car crash on Friday night was caused by a driver who ran a red light and struck a Providence police cruiser driven by an off-duty officer. The cruiser then hit another vehicle.
Officials say three people suffered minor injuries and the driver who ran the red light will be cited for traffic violations.
The other accident occurred later Friday night in Coventry, where police say several people were hurt in a two-car crash.
Coventry police have not disclosed how many people were injured or the nature of the injuries. Authorities say no arrests have been made and the accident remains under investigation.
