NAPLES, Fla. (AP) - Wildlife officials say a bobcat climbed an electrical power pole and perched high above the traffic crossing Alligator Alley, which cuts across the southern tip of Florida.
Crews from the Florida Fish and Wildlife commission and the state’s Department of Transportation worked together Thursday afternoon to coax the bobcat down.
Bobcats are common in Florida, and while commission spokeswoman Carol Lyn Parrish tells the Naples Daily News that it’s in their nature to climb, this was the first they’ve heard of one reaching the top of a power pole.
A crew used a utility bucket truck to lift a biologist in the air. He was eventually able to coax the bobcat down. It then scurried into the woods.
