BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) - Thunderstorms rattling around the central and southern Sierra Nevada, the San Joaquin Valley and parts of the Mojave Desert have been triggering flash-flood warnings and advisories.
The National Weather Service says the late-season stormy weather continuing Friday is due to a low-pressure system dropping southward through the region.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect for high elevations of the Sierra due to more snow in the range, which is already laden with a well-above-average snowpack.
The weather service said overnight accumulations include 8 to 12 inches (20.3 to 30.4 centimeters) at Aspendell and Lake Sabrina.
