LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A former therapist at the Arkansas State Hospital has been sentenced to five years of probation after she was accused of taking a patient from the facility without permission.

Michelle Messer pleaded guilty to felony evidence tampering and a misdemeanor count of aiding an unauthorized departure. According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette , prosecutors agreed to drop three remaining felony charges as part of the deal negotiated last week.

Messer is also required to surrender her psychology license.

Messer and the patient were eventually arrested in North Las Vegas, Nevada, after they left the state hospital on March 20, 2018.
