APOPKA, Fla. (AP) - Sheriff’s officials say four deputies fired at a man who pointed a gun at them when they responded to a complaint about loud music.

Orange County Sheriff John Mina said during a news conference that the shooting happened shortly before 4 a.m. Wednesday in a neighborhood in Apopka, which is near Orlando. The man was taken to a hospital, where he’s in critical condition.

Mina says the man had a gun when deputies arrived. He came outside and pointed the gun at deputies, who shot him.

The sheriff says there were calls from the same address about loud music and a man being belligerent toward law enforcement on March 29 and March 30.

The deputies were placed on administrative leave. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
