CABOT, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont school board official says there could be options for school choice in the future despite voters rejecting a measure to close their local high school.
The Times Argus reports Cabot High School will be moved into the Caledonia Central Supervisory Union as part of the state’s school merger law.
School Board Chairman Chris Tormey says as a result, high school students may be able to attend other high schools.
He says school officials will discuss over the next year how to improve opportunities for all students under the new supervisory union.
Cabot residents voted against closing the high school Tuesday.
School officials said the cost of paying tuition for the 39 expected students to attend different schools would have been $400,000 more than savings from closing the school.
