PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island State Police have filed additional sexual assault charges against a former Catholic chaplain for the Boy Scouts.

Police said Wednesday 74-year-old James Glawson is facing eight additional counts of sexual assault and one count of possessing child pornography.

Superintendent James Manni says the charges come after more alleged victims came forward.

Glawson was arrested in February after police say the Exeter man sexually assaulted an 18-year-old man with disabilities.

Glawson volunteered as an assistant Catholic chaplain at a Boy Scouts summer camp in Hopkinton from 2012 to 2018.

The Narragansett Council of the Boy Scouts of America says Glawson was previously banned from scouting for unrelated conduct.

Glawson is being held without bail. No defense attorney was listed in court records.
