BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (AP) - Authorities say one person has died in an early morning fire at an affordable housing complex in Connecticut.
Police and firefighters responded to the Interfaith Homes in Bloomfield shortly after midnight Thursday for a report of smoke in a hallway.
Responders found one unit on fire with flames visible in a second-story window and heavy smoke.
Officers tried to get inside but were unable to enter due to the smoke and flames.
After the fire was out, a woman was found dead inside. The building also sustained heavy structural damage.
The victim’s name was not released. The cause remains under investigation.
